Quote:
Swiss European Air Lines (SWU, Zurich) is set to replace its outgoing fleet of ARJ-100s with EMB-190s leased from fellow operator, Helvetic Airways (2L, Zurich). According to Switzerland's aeroTELEGRAPH, the decision to withdraw the ARJs comes amid increasing concerns about the type's growing maintenance costs.

With delays in the delivery of the CS100, the first of which Bombardier (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) was to have delivered this year, Swiss (LX, Zurich) has had to reconsider its options apropos its twenty-strong Avro fleet resulting in it choosing to lease EMB-190s from Helvetic as an interim solution.

Helvetic's Chief Financial Officer, Tobias Pogorevc, says that four EMB-190s will replace four of its oldest ARJ-100s that will be phased out. The Brazilian jets are due in country between December 2014 and January 2015.

The jets will be manned by Helvetic flight attendants while the pilots will be sourced from Swiss. The Swiss captains will later be retrained for the C-Series when they begin arriving, he added.

Helvetic Airways (2L, Zurich) signed lease agreements for seven EMB-190 aircraft with its future lessor Bernina Aircraft Leasing, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airfleet Credit Corporation.

The seven EMB-190s are currently operated by Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel) subsidiary Niki (HG, Vienna) from whom AFCC purchased the entire fleet of seven aircraft, for delivery to Helvetic between December 2014 and June 2015.

The first four EMB-190s to be delivered, shall be operated by Helvetic for Swiss (LX, Zurich), under an ACMI contract between Swiss and Helvetic in replacement of the first four aging Swiss European Air Lines (SWU, Zurich) ARJ-100 aircraft (out of a total of twenty) which Swiss intends to phase out over the next two years. The last three EMB-190s to be delivered, shall be used by Helvetic, for further expansion.

Programmet for deres første E190-E2 i starten.
