Default Safe Air krasjet med annet krasjet fly

[Safe Air Airlines crashed a Boeing 727 at Malakal Airport South Sudan on Sunday 31 March 2024. Malakal is near the international border with the Republic of Sudan and the border with Ethiopia. The airport resides at an elevation of 1,291 feet (393 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 04/22 with an asphalt surface measuring 2,000 by 38 metres (6,562 ft × 125 ft)

The landing 727 hit the wreckage of an African Express Airways MD-82 (5Y-AXL) that suffered an accident there on February 9, 2024. Our post about that accident is https://tinyurl.com/mr3jfm6e

There were 7 persons on board but at this time it is believed all survived the impact

Safe Air says they hold a valid Air Service License (ASL) and Air Operators Certificate (AOC) in full compliance with Kenya Civil Aviation Regulations in 2009. They are approved to operate B747, A300, B737, B727, FK50 and C208B.

Built in 1979 the aircraft was originally sold new to Avianca]
