SAS Group Traffic figures August 2005
Group total traffic volumes (in RPK - Revenue Passenger Kilometers) developed well in August with an increase of 6,4 per cent. Capacity (in ASK - Available Seat Kilometers) decreased by 1,1 per cent resulting in improved load factor of 5,0 per cent to 71,8 per cent. Yield for Scandinavian Airlines in July 2005 was up by 1,1 per cent versus 2004.
Traffic and load factor trends continued to improve in August compared with last year. Yields in general are expected to continue to be stable, but will be negatively affected by more low fare tickets on key domestic markets and European routes.
Scandinavian Airlines passenger load factor increased by 6,4 per cent to 73,4 per cent. Total intercontinental traffic was up 3,5 per cent versus last year. Traffic on the European routes was down primarily due to capacity reductions initiated under Capacity & Utilization focus. Intrascandinavian traffic was down in line with the reduction in capacity and cabin factors remained in line with 2004.
More passengers for Spanair
Spanair increased the capacity by 10,7 per cent, compared to August 2004. Passengers carried increased by 16,6 per cent and traffic with 12,1 per cent. The load factor, increased by 0,9 per cent to 69,6 per cent.
Widerĝe's total number of passengers was down by 1.6 per cent in August compared to last year. Blue 1's traffic (RPK) increased by 32 per cent and capacity (ASK) by 2 per cent compared to last year.
airBaltic's total number of passengers increased with 72 per cent compared to last year. Traffic increased by 89.7 per cent and ASK by 64.4 per cent.
