With FBU's runway less than 8000 feet long (7800?), did SK's FBU-EWR flights have weight restrictions? If so, how severe?

Hi, VV!

Yes, there were weight limitations on SK907, but I can't remember to which extent. Maybe LN-MOW or somebody else does. I have a memory of cargo being held back on a regular basis due to weight trouble.

You're absolutely right; length of RWY 06/24 used to be 8002 ft. :-)

Kristian

Oh yes, it was a daily battle ... ;)

On a sunny and dry day, we usually were close to MTOW (Maximum Take Off Weight), but if the runway was wet or contaminated, or if the wind was blowing from the wrong direction, the allowed traffic load dropped significantlly. The weather at EWR and en route also had a big influence, as a heavy fuel load could lead to reduced allowed traffic load.

If we knew it would be close, we usually had a fueltruck standby at the aircraft as the redcap (load control agent) would go over the final numbers with Dispatch and the captain.
