IRS (USA's skattedirektorat) vurderer aa inntekts-skatte utenlandsk crew som flyr over amerikansk luftrom ...
Fra USA Today:
Has the IRS gone too far? In a move that's drawn a sharp rebuke from international airline groups, the U.S. government is trying to collect income tax from flight crews on foreign airlines. The U.S. government says it's entitled to payroll taxes based on the amount of time those workers spend flying over U.S. airspace. The taxes and associated costs amount to "several million dollars," Alex de Gunten, executive director of the Miami-based International Association of Latin American Airlines, tells Bloomberg News/The Miami Herald (free registration). The IRS reportedly began seeking taxes in 2004 from eight airlines based in Central and South America. "If this is allowed to continue, there no doubt will be retribution against U.S. carriers," de Gunten said in a statement. Not only did he say the attempt violates treaties with Latin American nations, but he warned other countries may retaliate and try to collect similar taxes from U.S. airline workers. Posted 8 a.m.
