ÁPV Zrt, som er det statlige "Hungarian Privatization and State Holding Company" har bestemt å starte opp privatiseringen av Malév på nytt. Man har tidligere gjort forsøk, men ikke vært fornøyd.

The Board decided to relaunch the privatization process for Malév Zrt. ÁPV Zrt. will announce a negotiated privatization procedure starting with a public call for tenders for sale of the state-owned 99.95% holding in Hungary’s national airline. A condition of participation in the negotiated procedure will be the submission of a bid by 3 November 2006.
The main aims of privatization are to ensure the long-term operational viability of a company of key significance for the national economy by means of a capital expansion, to put in motion reform of the corporate organisation and to generate secure finance for the airline without state involvement.
In the opinion of ÁPV Zrt., hopes for the company’s profitable operation are most likely to be fulfilled by a highly-capitalised trade investor which will inject considerable capital and take a flexible ownership approach to take advantage – against intense competition – of the undoubted opportunities in the air industry.
The call for tenders will be published within a few days in two national newspapers and the European and Asian editions of the Financial Times.
