Finnair launches direct flights to Ljubljana in April
Finnair is to be the first airline to launch direct flights between Finland and Slovenia’s beautiful capital of Ljubljana. The route, to be flown with Embraer 170 aircraft, will be opened in April 2007. Flights will be operated four times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Finnair is focused on expanding its European network. The 76-seat Embraer 170 aircraft acquired last year, along with offering first class passenger comfort, have enabled Finnair to open new destinations for both European and Asian passengers.
“We have added frequencies to many of our European destinations and only this year we have already launched five new scheduled services in Europe, with more growth on the way. The timetables of the Ljubljana flights support Finnair’s Asian strategy and offer excellent return connections via Helsinki to Asia,” explains Finnair SVP, Commercial Division, Mika Perho.
Slovenia is situated in the West Balkans and is neighboured by Italy, Croatia and Austria. Ljubljana is an easily approachable, picture perfect city with its unique atmosphere highlighted by numerous old buildings and a vibrant night life. For travellers, Ljubljana and the whole of Slovenia is an affordable destination. The country is a member of the EU and travel will become even easier when it joins the euro area in the start of 2007. Ljubljana has good connections to nearby golf courses surrounded by beautiful Alpine scenery as well as to the coast of the Adriatic Sea. In the winters, the Slovenian Alps offer wonderful down hill ski experiences at good prices. The country has for long been a favourite holiday destination for Italians.
