Lion Airlines (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) parent, Lion Group, has pointed to a 2016 date for its much anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO). CEO Rusdi Kirana told Reuters last week that funds raised would be put towards developing Batam into the carrier's second international hub after Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta.

"We are talking now with banks about an IPO and will use the money to build this hub. Now we are using our own money but hopefully by first quarter 2016, the company will do an IPO and will use the money partly for airport expansion," he said.

The Indonesian budget carrier is also scheduled to officially unveil an order with Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for an undisclosed number of A330 widebody jets - its first such aircraft. Though no official word has yet been issued, Reuters suggests that the order could involve between 7 and 10 aircraft. The ch-aviation aircraft database shows A330-300 hulls cn 1675 and 1683 are scheduled to head to Lion Air.

Lion Air cancelled an order with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) for five B787-8s, destined for Batik Air (ID, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta), in January owing to the type's lack of desired capacity.
