Amen. Måtte det ta lang tid. Forhåpentligvis aldri!
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department announced Tuesday it is settling its lawsuit against the merger of American Airlines and US Airways by requiring the combined airline to give up slots at key airports across the country to low-cost competitors.
"This is very good news and we are grateful to all who have made it happen," said Doug Parker, CEO of US Airways, and incoming CEO of the combined airline. "We are pleased to have this lawsuit behind us and look forward to building the new American Airlines together."
I følge Planespotters.net (http://www.planespotters.net/Airline/US-Airways) la US Airways opp sine ''opperasjoner'' 8.
Consumers may not immediately notice the effects of the merger, as details of passenger loyalty programs, reservations, ticketing, and fleet integration are still being sorted out, and will likely not begin until early next year. The first announcements of passenger-facing changes are expected on January 7th, 2014. That date is also expected to be when both carriers will begin codesharing with each other. On March 30th, US Airways will leave Star Alliance, and the following day it will officially join American Airlines in the oneworld alliance. Between now and January, the two airlines are committed to, “ensuring both airlines run a superior operation during the holiday travel season,” according to Mr. Parker.
The New American, as it is being called, will continue to operate as two separate airlines under one management group until the Federal Aviation Administration issues the combined carrier’s new operating certificate. Issuance of the single operating certificate (SOC) is expected to occur 18 to 24 months from now.

2015 is the year American goes to a single reservations system and frequent-flyer program, said Kirby, noting the airline is already operating under a single system for cargo. “We’re confident that the process we have in place makes us hopeful that the single reservation and frequent-flyer mergers can get done,” he said. “We will move to the single reservations system in the fourth quarter and the frequent-flyer system in the second quarter.”
Another big event for American Airlines is moving to a single operating certificate, said Kirby. “We’ve completed eight of the nine phases and hope to get it done in April,” he said. “It’s a huge accomplishment, and we give kudos to the team who got it done. We’re almost there.”
